At the end of Term 3 the SRC helped to organise the Sports Colours Day and accompanying Hotdog sales!
We had a wide variety of sports represented from AFL teams, soccer teams, basketball teams and even a lawn bowls team!
We would very much like to thank Angela our Canteen Manager and her amazing helpers for cooking the hotdogs. The SRC would also like to thank Mrs Todman for her assistance in helping co-ordinate the massive task of getting 350 hotdogs ordered, delivered and sorted on the day!

Neighbourhood Watch Statewide Calendar Competition Winners
Aniah Perry and Ainsley Lawrence had their artwork chosen for inclusion in the Neighbourhood Watch 2025 Calendar. On Saturday morning, they attended the Neighbourhood Watch Annual Presentation Ceremony to receive their prizes. Aniah and Ainsley were the only winners from the north of the state. Congratulations!
Safeguarding - Protecting Students on Social Media
Everybody has a role to keep children and young people safe. One way to do this is to ensure all members of the Mowbray community and visitors, are aware of what is appropriate and expected when it comes to taking photos and videos of learners.
Please be aware that you are welcome to take photos or videos of your own child or children, however, you are not allowed to take photos or videos of other children. In line with the DECYP Social Media Policy, the sharing of images of other children without permission from their parents or guardians is not permitted. The poster shown below will be on display in our school to remind everybody of this information.
Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.
Janaha Williams – Safeguarding Lead
The Obstac-a-thon is a great fundraiser for our school and a way the students can have fun and be involved too by walking laps of an obstacle course that is set up around the school.
The Obstac-a-thon is on Friday 25 October. It is held at school at the following times:
- Year 3 - 6 students 10:00 am - 11:00 am
- Prep - Year 2 students 11:25 am - 12:25 pm
Prep - Year 6 students are encouraged to find relatives and friends to sponsor them per lap, or to give a donation. Sponsorship Forms were sent home last term. The Sponsorship Form and money collected are to be returned to school after the event, and by Friday 8 November.
Families are welcome to attend. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Early Childhood Athletic Carnival
Our Athletic Carnival for our Kindergarten – Year 2 students will take place on Wednesday 30 October from 9:05 am – 11:00 am on our school oval. Please make sure your child has water to drink in their drink bottle and has appropriate shoes for physical activity.
As we are a SunSafe school, please ensure that you have applied sunscreen to you child prior to leaving home. There will be sunscreen available for students to reapply.
This is always an exciting event for our students, and it is wonderful that we are able to have parents and other family members share this experience with their children. We do ask that spectators remain in the designated sections for the duration of the carnival.

Swimming and Water Safety Program
Our annual Swimming and Water Safety Program will begin on Tuesday 5 November and finish on Friday 15 November. The venue for the program is the Launceston Church Grammar School Pool.
This is a fantastic learning opportunity for all students in Years 3, 4 and 5, as well as selected Year 6 students. Students will develop skills in submersion, buoyancy, propulsion, as well as learn key safety messages including what to do should they ever fall into a pool, lake, river or the ocean. Please ensure your child has their bathers, a towel and a plastic bag for wet clothing. We will be swimming indoors, therefore rash tops are optional. Goggles can be worn however students may be asked to take them off during some activities.
Thank you to those families who have returned their Major Excursion Form and their Consent for Aquatic Activity Form. These are due to our office as soon as possible.

Pre-Kinder Early Start & Parent Workshops
From Tuesday 12 November to Friday 29 November, Pre-Kindergarten children are able to attend Early Start sessions without parents. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to practise separating from family and to develop some independence in the school setting.
There will be a Teacher and Teacher Assistants to supervise and support your child during this transition. The staff enjoy this valuable time to get to know your child and make stronger connections with them. We would expect that children attend on their regular Pre-Kindergarten day and time.
It is a legal requirement that parents remain at school while your child attends Early Start. During this time parents will have an opportunity to move to another location in the school grounds and have a tea or coffee with other parents and staff. I will share information with you about enrolment, uniforms and the Kindergarten Program. You will have about 10 minutes to settle your child into the program before each parent session begins.
Our LiL staff are happy to answer any questions.

The current supplier of our school dress will now only fill an order of a minimum of 30 dresses per size. We offer a full range of sizes, which means we could have hundreds of school dresses in the Uniform Cupboard. Our Uniform Co-ordinator has spoken to another supplier who is happy to fill order amounts in the quantities we require, however, the dress is slightly different. The cost of the new dress is the same as our current dress.
We do not expect families to buy the new dress until it suits them and we are happy for our students to wear either dress.
To speed up the transition to the new dress we are offering the current style dress at a discounted price of $30.

Lets Talk About It
October is Mental Health Month, this year Mental Health First Aid Australia have launched a campaign to call on all Australians to make every conversation matter – because you never know when your words could provide a lifeline to support. This campaign will run throughout Mental Health Month in October, which celebrates the theme of ‘Let’s talk about it’.
Whether it is with your friends, family, colleagues or even a stranger, every supportive, informed and compassionate conversation can make a world of a difference in helping someone get the support they need.
When one person starts a conversation, it doesn’t stop there – it can ripple out to their friends, families and networks, creating a groundswell of conversation, connection and support. Become part of a growing movement that’s making mental health support accessible for anyone and everyone.
