Dear Families,
Thank you to all our parents and carers, students and teachers for your participation in our recent opportunity for Communicating Learning Progress with families. Kindergarten Parent Teacher Meetings and Prep to Year 6 Mid-year Learning Conversations (involving our students) were extremely well attended, with 93% of our students represented. This is an excellent result and the feedback we have received from students, families and teachers has once again been extremely positive.
Kindergarten Parent Teacher meetings involved discussions in relation to progress students were making towards mastering the markers on the Kindergarten Development Check in the areas of thinking, literacy and numeracy, and health and wellbeing. The opportunity was also taken to share evidence of their learning and to celebrate their achievements.
Prep to Year 6 Mid-year Learning Conversations focused on progress, achievement, future goals and strategies to support improvement. Our students were so happy to be part of this experience and extremely proud of the learning they were able to share with their families.
Our staff strongly value family engagement in student learning and were very pleased to have another opportunity to strengthen our relationship with parents and carers. Please know that appointments can be made with teachers at anytime of the year to discuss your child’s learning and wellbeing.
Finally best wishes to our whole school community for a wonderful school holiday break. I hope you have time to have fun and recharge ready for Term 3.

DECYP Attendance Survey - tight timeframe
Share your thoughts on school attendance!
Help us better understand any barriers that may be in the way, and what supports are needed to help with getting to school.
The Department for Education, Children and Young People is doing statewide consultation on school attendance, closing on Thursday 4 July. 3P Advisory is independently running the consultation. Your answers are confidential, and you won’t be identified.
We want to hear from you. You can take part in an online survey, share or vote for suggestions, or join an online drop-in session via the 3P website. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
You can also share your thoughts about what you like or don’t like about our Every school day matters campaign.
As a parent or carer, please have your say. Please encourage your child/ren, too.
Every piece of feedback counts. Thanks for helping shape future DECYP initiatives, school-based engagement strategies and public awareness campaigns.
Launching into Learning - Term 3
Next term we are very excited to start work on our Kindergarten outdoor space, which will mean we do not have access to the playground in Term 3. To keep group sizes manageable, the Playgroup on Thursday at 9:00 am will now be for toddlers who are 2-3 years old and their siblings.
The times and sessions for Term 3 are attached. Please ask our staff if you have any questions.
Have a great break and we will see you next term!

A firefighter from the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) is visiting our school to present a Home Fire Safety Program to the Year 3-4 classes and the Year 5-6 classes in Week 2 of Term 3 (29 July - 2 August). 3-4 Rafferty and our Early Childhood classes participated in the program earlier this term.
The age appropriate program is designed to raise fire awareness in children and includes fun in class activities, videos, activity books, website www.tfseducation.com.au and giveaways. Parents and other family members are also encouraged to participate by reading the information and assisting your child with the after school activities. The TFS aims to deliver appropriate fire safety education to every primary school child in Tasmania and is part of the TFS’s ongoing commitment to create a fire safe Tasmania.
Key Fire Safety Messages include,
Wake up - Install a smoke alarm in every bedroom
Plan and practice a home fire escape plan with the whole family
In a fire crawl low and go, go, go to the nearest exit
In an emergency call triple zero
Keep flammable material at least two metres from the heater
If your clothes catch fire, stop, drop, rock and roll
Keep matches and lighters away from children
Cooking - Turn it off before you turn away
Cool a burn under cool water for at least 20 minutes
Most house fires can be avoided. Make your home fire safe

As families begin to get their winter clothes ready, we are hoping that any uniform items that your children have outgrown might be donated to school. These come in very handy when students have accidents, get wet or get muddy!
The following sizes are available in the 2024 Year 6 Leavers Polos. The tops are $35.00 and can be purchased at the school office. These are the last sizes available and no further orders will be placed.
