It's an exciting time for Mowbray Heights. We are benefitting from the State Government's Contemporary Classrooms Program, with a $500 000 upgrade on the way. This project will deliver a new covered and outdoor play area for our Kindergarten students, increasing opportunities for indoor and outdoor connections.  

A contract has now been signed with a suitably qualified builder, with works due to begin in the July holidays. Works will be scheduled and delivered in a way that will cause minimal disruption for our students and staff.  The upgrade is due to be completed by the end of 2024.

This will be a fabulous outcome for our school and I can't wait to provide our whole school community with updates as the project progresses.

Last Thursday our Readers' Cup finalists travelled to Hagley Farm Primary School to compete in the Intra-School Final. The Readers' Cup involves teams reading 5 set books over the term and competing in a Quiz and Creative Challenge. Our finalists were Aachal, Neerzera, Natalie, Ishana, Jessica and Abina. Our team displayed such courage and resilience on the night, and placed 6^th overall. I am so proud of the team and of the support and encouragement they gave each other throughout the experience.

To further support our learning around emotional regulation and resilience, students in Prep to Year 6 will be viewing the film Inside Out 2 at the Star Theatre, Invermay.

The film, rated PG, is the sequel to Inside Out, the DVD students viewed at the end of Term 1. The story continues the adventures of Riley, who is now 13 years old, and introduces audiences to some new emotions.

Our Year 3 - 6 students had a wonderful time today and the final session for Prep - Year 2 students is tomorrow.

The bus will leave Mowbray Heights Primary School at 9:45 am and students will return to school at 12:00 pm.

As the film is being shown across recess, access to our canteen will be impacted. Students in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 are to bring a packed recess. 

Full school uniform is required and please pack a coat in case of wet weather.

One of the favourite events of the year is our School Disco. Discos are held throughout the school day ensuring all students can attend and be involved. Students are not required to wear school uniform on this day.

Following on from the Brooks High School Transition Staff visiting MHPS two weeks ago, our Year 5 and Year 6 students will be visiting Brooks High School on Thursday 4 July. We will be leaving Mowbray Heights Primary School at 1:15 pm and returning by 2:45 pm.

5 - 6 Class Teachers

On Friday 5 July, students in Year 3 – 6 will be celebrating the end of Term by viewing the movie, Paddington.

The film, rated G, is a magical adventure of a polite young Peruvian bear, who travels to London in search of a home. Lost and alone, Paddington is taken in by the Brown Family. They quickly discover just how much chaos one small bear can cause.

As families begin to get their winter clothes ready, we are hoping that any uniform items that your children have outgrown might be donated to school. These come in very handy when students have accidents, get wet or get muddy!

The following sizes are available in the 2024 Year 6 Leavers Polos.  The tops are $35.00 and can be purchased at the school office. These are the last sizes available and no further orders will be placed.
