Mid-Year Learning Conversations
We are very much enjoying our Mid-year Learning Conversations where the focus is on celebrating progress and achievement, and on setting goals for the remainder of the year together.
Our Prep - Year 6 Mid-year Conversations commenced on Tuesday 18 June and finish on Wednesday 26 June.
Our Kindergarten Mid-year Conversations commenced on Monday 17 June and finish on Thursday 27 June.
Please note
- Prep - Year 6 students are involved in these conversations so please bring your child/children to the meeting
- Kindergarten conversations are just between adults
Thank you very much to those who have returned a preference form. Our Prep to Year 6 students are excited about sharing their learning with their parents and carers. It is certainly not too late to make an appointment so please contact the Admin Team on 63261892 or email your child's class teacher.
Child care is available in the PAC each day for school aged children.
In line with Department for Education, Children and Young People requirements, a summative report was also provided this term for students in Years 1 - 6, assessed against the Australian Curriculum using a nine point scale in English, Maths and Science. For students whose learning is not able to be assessed against the Australian Curriculum, a summative report of learning achievement against learning plan goals was provided. Written comments are not included in mid-year or end of year summative reports. Mid-year Reports were sent home on Friday 14 June.
Last Wednesday our SRC co-ordinated a dress up day to raise funds for The Variety Club of Tasmania. The theme of the day was to come to school dressed as your hero. This could be someone we admire, someone we look up to or someone we aspire to be like! We had an amazing assortment of heroes turn up to MHPS on the day, from family members to superheroes, and sporting superstars to fantastic occupations, including teachers!
Our gold coin donations were presented to the CEO of Variety, Mohammad Aldergham, at lunch time on the day. We proudly donated over $230 towards their programs for kids. We were lucky enough to have a visit from one of the Variety Club TasBash cars too. Connie the Cow popped along and will be participating in the charity’s motoring event later this year.
Thank you to everyone who dressed up!

Prep - Year 6 Excursion to Star Theatre
To further support our learning around emotional regulation and resilience, students in Prep to Year 6 will be viewing the film Inside Out 2 at the Star Theatre, Invermay.
The film, rated PG, is the sequel to Inside Out, the DVD students viewed at the end of Term 1. The story continues the adventures of Riley, who is now 13 years old, and introduces audiences to some new emotions.
Due to the number of students attending, the film will be viewed across three sessions.
Year 5 - 6 students | 10:00 am on Wednesday 26 June |
Year 3 - 4 students | 12:00 pm on Wednesday 26 June |
Prep and Year 1 - 2 students | 10:00 am on Thursday 27 June |
For students attending the morning session, the bus will leave Mowbray Heights Primary School at 9:45 am and students will return to school at 12:00 pm.
Students attending the afternoon session will have an early lunch break and buses will depart at 11:45 am, returning to school by 2:00 pm.
As the film is being shown across break times, access to our canteen will be impacted. Students in Prep, Year 1 - 2 and Year 5 - 6 are to bring a packed recess. Students in Year 3 - 4 will require a packed lunch on Wednesday.
Full school uniform is required and please pack a coat in case of wet weather.
If you have any questions or concerns please make contact with your child’s class teacher.

Brooks High School Transition Visit
Following on from the Brooks High School Transition Staff visiting MHPS last week, our Year 5 and Year 6 students will be visiting Brooks High School on Thursday 4 July. We will be leaving Mowbray Heights Primary School at 1:15 pm and returning by 2:45 pm. Students must be in full school uniform.
5 - 6 Class Teachers
On Friday 5 July, students in Year 3 – 6 will be celebrating the end of Term by viewing the movie, Paddington.
The film, rated G, is a magical adventure of a polite young Peruvian bear, who travels to London in search of a home. Lost and alone, Paddington is taken in by the Brown Family. They quickly discover just how much chaos one small bear can cause.
As families begin to get their winter clothes ready, we are hoping that any uniform items that your children have outgrown might be donated to school. These come in very handy when students have accidents, get wet or get muddy!
The following sizes are available in the 2024 Year 6 Leavers Polos. The tops are $35.00 and can be purchased at the school office. These are the last sizes available and no further orders will be placed.
